What is SEER and why is it important?
SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio.
The higher the SEER rating, the less energy an air conditioner uses during a typical cooling season.
Also with most brands, the higher SEER units have more features and benefits including but not limited to: quieter operation, more durable cabinets, ability to remove more humidity from your home during high humid days, self diagnostics, lower energy bills.
What is HSPF?
Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) is a measurement to determine the efficiency of air source heat pumps. The higher the HSPF, the lower your operating cost during a typical heating season. In Kentucky for instance, there are more heating hours than cooling hours in any particular year according to accumulated weather data. So, HSPF ratings are very important when determining operating cost of a new heat pump system.
What are ductless mini split systems?
Mini-splits are heating and cooling systems designed to allow individual control in each room or area of your home.
Mini-split systems have an outdoor condenser and an indoor air-handling unit. Indoor units can be wall hung models, floor mounted models, ceiling models and even ducted models.
Mini split systems are a great choice for whole home use or individual room use. They are especially useful in great rooms, garages, work shops etc.
They are an excellent choice for areas where it is difficult or not feasible to add ductwork because ductwork is not needed.
